“Gaze”

The fight for Hong Kong’s freedom has blossomed in the past year. Facing crackdowns, the movement could do little to fight back but nonetheless persisted. They dug out bricks and anything they could get their hands on to build roadblocks. After the clashes, Lennon walls around Hong Kong were painted over. However, tell-tale signs remain a testament to the voices of dissent. On sidewalks, concrete-filled holes and cracks spoke of the determination of our freedom fighters, whose sacrifice which we will never forget.

This series of work aims to crystalize the spirit and stories of our youthful protestors.

By capturing the indelible mark of their ‘gazes’ upon our home city, it records their resistance – a resistance built upon ideal, hopes, and love.
